Embsay Priory : ウィキペディア英語版 | Embsay Priory Embsay Priory was a priory in North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1120〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.outofoblivion.org.uk/record.asp?id=451 )〕 dedicated to St Mary and St Cuthbert and was part of the Augustinian order. William de Meschines and his wife Cecily endowed the Priory and the churches in Skipton and Carleton.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.dalesman.co.uk/walks/embsay-crag )〕 In 1154, the priory was moved to Bolton Abbey, which is east although a small group of Canons managed the site until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The current church in Embsay, St Mary the Virgin (Embsay with Eastby) now stands on the site of the former Priory. ==References==
